MAKING THE COMMUNITIES SAFER AROUND LA GRANGE
The La Grange Police Department coordinated with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol and the National Guard to help produce one of the largest Check Points in the La Grange Area.

The Check Point was design to promote highway safety and to apperhend criminal violating North Carolina State Laws. The Check Point was set up in the East bound lane of Highway 70 under the Hwy 903 overpass at 6:00PM and lasted until 11:00PM.

A National Guard helicopter flew overhead while the Check Point was in place to provide lighting and visual assistance to the units on the ground.

After the completion of the Check Point, all units assisted with a Saturation Campaign in the problem areas of the Town of La Grange. A Saturation Campaign is a event that multiple law enforcement officers try to make their presence known to criminals in problem area. This Saturation Campaign was in response to numerous complaints of drug activities in neighborhoods in La Grange. Several charges were made and multiple bags of narcotics were seized during this Saturation Campaign.

The La Grange Police Department hopes this is just the first of many more Check Points and Saturation Campaigns inside and around the Town of La Grange.
The La Grange Police Department has implemented a Traffic Unit with the assistance of the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program. This program has assisted the La Grange Police Department in obtaining the necessary equipment and training to educate and enforce traffic safety to the public.

Through the assistance of the GHSP, La Grange Police Department has received a Radar Trailer that it shares with the Surronding Departments. The Department has also been able to purchase two MPH Python II Duel Ant. Radar Units that it uses to reduce unecessary speeding in trouble areas.
